The World Economic Forum (WEF) has been recognizing global leaders in Industry 4.0 since 2018 by awarding them the “Digital Lighthouse” status. As of January 2026, a total of 224 manufacturing sites have been included in this prestigious network. The initiative has rapidly become one of the most recognized international awards in the field of digital transformation in industry. To qualify for the Digital Lighthouse designation, organizations must demonstrate end-to-end digital transformation, covering not only advanced technologies but also operational models, management approaches, and organizational capabilities. The selection process is rigorous and transparent: an independent panel of WEF experts conducts a one-day on-site assessment, followed by evaluation and voting to determine the winners. In January 2026, during the Davos Forumu 2026, a significant milestone was achieved. The Carbamide Plant of SOCAR became the first and only facility in the Caspian region to be awarded the Digital Lighthouse status. In addition, the Digital Lighthouse project implemented at the plant was recognized as the “Project of the Year.” This distinction highlights that the digital transformation initiatives carried out at the plant are acknowledged not only locally but also at a global level. This achievement demonstrates the international recognition of innovative approaches, advanced technological solutions, and effective management practices implemented at SOCAR’s Carbamide Plant, further strengthening Azerbaijan’s position in the global industrial landscape.
